The Bite of Winter’s Blast….

Since it is again bitter cold here in the midwest, I thought I’d reblog this poem. I daresay I’m ready for spring.

The Nocturnal Laundress

Image

The bite of winter

crawls forward,

moving slowly, so slowly

over the surface of the earth….

sharp and stinging

bitter and blue.

It shocks and stuns

as it moves from the north

dipping down

slowly…. slowly

through the night

across the plains,

mountains and low places.

Ever moving,

creeping down

from the north

from the sky

bringing every living thing

to it’s knees.

The icy blast,

the hard, cold knives

of air and wind

cut through every inch

of space

and shows itself

to be more powerful

than anything

man can do

or say

or be.
