Night Water….

Cold and dark and heavy

the thrashing night water

gulps me down….

I flail my arms

but find no purchase

as I sink

into the deep

with thoughts of endless

days and nights

seeping from my grasp.

The seaweed tendrils

around my ankles

pulling me down

into the mire

ever deeper

as my breath slowly runs out

and the world finally,

at last,

goes black.
